The world’s first news Bandersnatch

The New York Times is creating a new way for readers to interact and think about news by introducing ROAM. The first news Bandersnatch that will challenge the way people consume news by immersing the reader in different cultures and points of view.

The New York times will challenge people's points of view by creating a gamified immersive experience where readers will be exposed and encouraged to consume news from different sources and countries about the same subject.

Roaming

To start the experience the users only need to click on the “eye” icon at the top of the page to active ROAM mode.

The users will then be redirected to the portal where they will be given options for the most recent news across the globe.

At the end of each article, the reader will be provided with three options from different sources that either challenge or conform with their point of view.
At the same time, we will provide a neutral article containing relevant background information.

At the end of each session, the user will click “End Session” to get access to their reading evaluation.
